Houston we have a problem in Zion

Monday, August 24, 2015

This week was (apart from the crazy speed of it) was a good week to serve. We ended up having to do a lot of favors for the Zone. It was nice. Also we got to see that God was working in our area to make up for the time that we weren't able to. We have been able to find so many people that want to learn. Not argue, but learn. It's nice.

Another plus is that as we are ending the month we have found that we have a TON of money for the last week of breakfast!!!  I am happy because my companion realized that he is getting fat and now just drinks mate in the morning which gives me all of his food so that maybe, just maybe, I can get to 70 kilos before next July!  PRAY FOR ME!!

We are still visiting Alexis and he is still coming to church. He is an awesome kid better than I was when I was 15. Truth.

I am grateful for the spirit that has been with me so much. I have learned how to hear it.  And even more, to obey it, Why I should obey it?  I always tell my investigators if you learned something today, it is because the Spirit taught you and you listened.  My companion and I can't teach anything.  And you will never learn from us.  It's true.  I like an example that the spirit is like the sun. And a powerful missionary can be like a magnifying glass. We can make something powerful, personal as well. I love that.

Love all of you I hope this week is great.

I'm kind of happy the week is over..

I have seen more miracles this change than ever before. Really! It's not really like everything is happening now. More like all the miracles that started and happened while I was with Elder Fernandez, we are now learning about. And in that aspect I am very happy and grateful. I think the miracles are driving me. With the ______ Stake I feel like I have used all my energy. Yesterday I was especially tired, I mean mentally. I was so grateful for the miracle we saw.

We are teaching a 15 year old kid named Alexis that always reads always prays and has come to church for the last two weeks. But, he has told us that he still hasn't felt an answer.  I felt prompted to share when Oliver Cowdrey received the revelation that says If it wasn't for the spirit you wouldn't be where you now are. I felt like I should tell him he already had an answer.

After that, he told us about one day when he was praying.  In these days he was going to an Evangelical church. But he didn't feel right there. So he prayed and asked that he could know which church is true.  The next day Elder Fernandez and I knocked on his door and taught him about prophets and apostles and prayer.  I am grateful for this experience. For the spirit that made it happen. That I was able to be "along for the ride."

I would like to say something to everyone who reads this letter. They are the little things that make all the difference. 1 Cor 1 :26-27, Alma 37: 6-7.  By way of little things God brings to pass the salvation of his children. Reading is a little thing. Praying is a little thing. And going to church on time is a little thing. That being said, those things work. And they should be done as a family. This country would be blessed a lot more if the peole would do this.  Please do it.  If you are, Great. If you were and stopped Start. I have learned by bad examples that not doing the simple things doesn't work.

I have no idea what to put here.... Asado!

After a cazy week. I'M BACK!!  When I say I'm back I mean, still in Peru surrounded by Cholos, eating rice and potatoes and chicken! Wooooooooooo. (sarcasmo about the rice and potatoes and chicken.)

We had an interesting and tiring week.  We spent Friday night in the clinic because a sister in the zone was really sick.  We spent FIVE HOURS IN A PERUVIAN CLINIC!!!!!!!! BOOOO!!!  We left at 2 in the morning, which is only a little late for curfew haha.

The Lord has blessed us A LOT in this area.  We were able to be found by 5 people that the Lord has been preparing since Adam and that's not a joke!  We walked and worked and taught like crazy this week and The Lord Made up every single difference.  It was amazing! We are now teaching Adison, Tatiana, Alfreda, Milena and Carlos.  A family of four and Carlos.  The Family was going to get baptized about 8 years ago, but they had to move to Lima as an emergency and they recently got back.  And the mom (bless her heart) she chased us down which was hard for her because she is kind of old, haha she ended up just yelling "Hermanos" because we walk fast she said.

I thought about that moment.  When she saw us pass by.  When she decided to come find us.  I thought about what God Must have been doing knowing that 4 of his children were about to be taught the truth..  I imagine he acted a lot like football fans act when the WR is in the 20 and getting closer to the end zone. Yelling GOGOGOGO C'mon Alfreda! You're so close!!!  I thought about that 50 year old woman running after us.  Probably not fully understanding why she had to talk to us.  Not walking.  But running on Faith.  My heart was filled with a type of Love and amazement that doesn't come everyday.  And when it does it kind of leaves you speechless. I think the Spirit told me how much God loves us all.. and it's a lot.

Got to go but I hope that everyone is good!  That you can all do something nice for someone this week!

Una semana ...Especial..

Monday, August 3, 2015

Okay I don't have a bunch of time so i'll try and make it a good letter with my time.

Elder Fernandez (RIP) IS currently Soaking the Pasco Glory... Lucky Guy!  I miss Pasco. Sure it tried to kill me more than once.. but, it didn't, and now we are friends!

My new companion is from Misiones Argentina which is Northern Argentina.  His name is Elder Delgado. For those of you keeping track I have almost had one companion from every country of South America!!! Go ME!!

I will say sorry right now.  I have nothing cool to share.  I have been dead for the last 3 days.  I have been sick and haven't left our room apart from when we took the Sacrament. yesterday and then went home.  Booooo haha.  I'm going to take a picture of myself and when i'm healthy again i'm going to send it. (I cant do it now or you'll all get scared.)  I'm sorry that's it.

Although the week has hit me hard I can still laugh.  As long as that's the case, i'm still winning.

Santiago and Sling shots

Monday, July 27, 2015

Well this week was one not to remember.  Not because it was bad. But because it literally want by at such Blazing Speeds that I am having a hard time remembering everything.
This week we were going to speed up until Saturday. There was a baptism in our ward that nobody really helped set up or clean. So that was a good way to slow Saturday. Sunday started parties for the 28th, Independence Day of Peru. Why does it start so early? I don't know but I do know that if I see another drunk gay dancing to Santiago I am going to shoot him with my slingshot... (Notice. Santiago is the common hill person of Peru music... I invite you all to try and listen to more than 1 song without hating yourself.)

Haha speaking of my slingshot, I will give you all year of practice and still beat you all in a contest at home... You have to learn here... It's life or death!!  Yesterday out of necessity I hit 4 dogs!! (They were attacking a servant of the lord.)

Changes are this week and to be honest I don't want me or my companion to go, but, we will accept whatever happens.. I'm sure that no matter what happens in the changes I will with a Latino.. Because I am always with Latinos, but that's okay!  I always end up being buddies with them!

I know that the church is true. The Book of Mormon is true. I also know that Satan is hard at work, I have seen his work this week.  As every single one of my investigators has gotten a job that has asked them to work on Sundays.  I really hate the fight between good and better.  I hope that you're all good and that life treats you well.

Another week another dollar...

Monday, July 20, 2015

For the record every week is worth way more than a dollar!  It's the Peruvian Discount.  This week was super awesome and too fast! I cannot believe that transfers are about 1 week away!  That’s crazy!  Haha. I always think of that part of the song Walls by The Rocket Summer ...
Does anybody know where February went?
And March
And Abril
And May
And June???
The time goes fast and I really can’t believe it…

My comp and I are working for two investigators that have dates for this Saturday... We just don’t know if there will be enough time to teach them everything they need before then. They are super awesome and ALWAYS keep the things we leave for them.  And ALWAYS come to church.  But, they have crazy lives and it is hard to find time to teach them so we are working on that.

Funny story:
We live with two other Elders. The Zone leaders of Los Andes. Two Greengos who think they are funny because they hide in our closets at night when we get home and jump out to scare us….  So we got revenge..hehehe..  It was a normal day.. after a bunch of appointments that had gone well we got a call from the personal sec to tell us that we had to go get a few missionaries from the terminal to Lima..  At 9:30… which is late for those returned missionaries that are reading… but we went... But, before we left we stopped by the house to drop off our bags….  And found the other Elders' bags were already there…  It was the perfect opportunity to do something we had been wanting to do for a while…  A FAKE ROBBERY!!!  Oh my gosh it couldn’t have worked out better!  They got to the house and it was an absolute disaster!  REALLY BAD!  And we had taken all of their things that are expensive and hid them… it was great. Elder Ottley told me Glassett i'm not even mad I just feel sick..  Fernandez and I went into our study room to laugh and they came in thinking we were crying…. A nice touch I think..  After we told them it was us they laughed with us… and all was well!  A great joke that I would recommend..  P.S. we got the idea from an investigator who did that to his girlfriend… what a bad investigator..

Lastly, today we went to a place called Huaytapallana which is a huge glacier about 16,000 feet above sea level… it was awesome!  And also…. I'm never going again… Once is enough..

Huaytapallana Glacier.  Coco said it was 16,000 feet above sea level.  Wikipedia says it is 18,000 feet above sea level.  Perhaps 18,000 is at the top of the glacier.

Mom:  "What is that you are standing by?  Please tell me someone doesn't live there..."  Coco:  "I cannot deny or confirm that statement..."

Hump day on Hump day

Monday, July 13, 2015

Hey Family,

I had a really fast week where we tried to focus on the ward and stake… They have this genius idea where we start to focus more on Family History than on Faith, Repentance and Baptism and well… the basics… I am not saying that it isn’t important… but how are the investigators going to feel the spirit if they don’t understand what’s happening?

We a bunch of great people that we are teaching!  We have a family of 3 planned for the 25 of this month.  They are awesome. Always read always come to church…EARLY And they are the first reference that I have received that will get baptized…. (Up till now all of my baptisms have been from contacting.)  They are named Flor, Nelly and Raiza.  They are the cousins of a few members….  And the ward has been really good to them!  They feel comfortable.  They like their classes and they Love the Book of Mormon! (A winning combination!)

Today a guy came up to my comp and I with 100 Percent pure desire to fight with us… haha it was funny because he came up to us with so much confidence and tried to fight us on some point of Doctrine….  As soon as he realized that we were absolutely destroying what he thought was true he made a typical ´´i'm losing´´ move…  He tried to change the subject and I told him…´´We would be happy to explain what the signs from revelations means as soon as you understand this…´´ haha we finished and we (laughing awkwardly said) haha we all understand the Bible differently… I have to go...´´ my Comp and I felt a little bad for him… but at the same time if you are going to attack to Mormon Missionaries on certain points of the Bible you have to know it really well… he had it coming pretty much..

To all those who are tired… take a nap for me..
