The week of weeks

Monday, September 29, 2014

No it wasn't a baptism or something like that that made this week awesome... We haven't taught a million lessons or have any recent members saved.. but I have a cool story.

We have been working with a 20 year menos (less) active named Dora.  And she asked us a cool question. She said,  ¨Why is it that I only every feel like I need to hurry home when I know you guys are coming?  Why do I just spend all day anticipating you two?¨  I looked at her and quite simply said, "Sister Dora, we are representatives of Jesus Christ."  And she stopped.  She sat back in her chair and just said "Wow!"  The thing was that I felt the words enter and leave my mouth. They were not mine!  I went on to explain that we have been called by a prophet who was called of God.  We are literally acting and speaking on behalf of Jesus Christ.  I think it took me up until that point to realize that.  Talk about inspiration!!
Also I have yet to have used a computer with a working usb drive but I always check!! Anyway I'm gonna send pictures asap!!

Mason....oh little one. You are like me.  You think that things only happen to you... Believe me when I say you are exactly like me... That's not gonna get you places around the house. You know mom and you know dad!  You don't have A CHANCE AT WINNING... YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO CHANGE... SO DID I BUT I DIDN'T...  You've got 4 years of high school left and you might as well figure out one thing, be honest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  That's my advice.  Be honest and act your age.  You don't need a girlfriend buddy... you're 14... you can't even date according to the prophets... think mas....

Paula'a Note.  It's double letter Monday.  So sorry I didn't get this uploaded earlier.

Being a missionary makes you so tired!!

Ok I'm done with that!
Let me start by saying this...
I know I'm gonna be a scout leader one day... for a while.
Why else would God put me in a place were we camp EVERYDAY?
It's kind of awesome!  Now you can sell my bed.  I think I'd rather live in my sleeping bag forever!

This week was better than last week.  Jhordy got his Animo back!!  Wooooo!  Also his parents are now investigators!  Haha funny story!  So Jhordy has two little siblings who are sooo loud during lessons.  So, Emmelkamp and I bought coloring books and markers to tame those beasts!  Then they gave us the pictures!  They´re adorable of course!  They are hanging up in our apartment!  Also Jhordy's dad had a million questions about the Book of Mormon.  But once we answered them he was excited to have ANOTHER BIBLE... Which still isn't exactly what it is.... But he he told us he'd read and pray about it so we can explain better later...

Dad you had a question about what his ward missionaries could do to help the work.
This is my answer!  Be consistently helpful!  Be on the same page... help them help them!!!  They need help!!!!!!  Tell this to all your ward missionaries!

Love you all!!!

Its puppy season

Monday, September 15, 2014

To explain the subject line... there are a million dogs here... and HALF OF THEM ARE PREGNANT!!! Or have recently had puppies...

Anyway this week a lot has happened.  We took a taxi the other day from cenrto and the taxi driver liked me... He loved me!  He told me that my face was white like the devils... but it was fine because I have the power to beat him...  Weird compliment but I'll take it!!  Before we left the car he asked if we could say a prayer.  He said it and during the middle he sartted singing and clapping... Not the weirdest prayer story..  But it's a good one!

Later we had divisions. I was with Elder Kidd! From the Draper Utah Stake!  What?  It was cool!  We went hard on this town... setup up a whole bunch of citas that ALL FELL THROUGH... pucha..

Okay I'm running short on time which sucks but I'm gonna try and be spiritual...

The more I'm hear the better I learn to pray.  I can feel a stronger bond grow between me and my father in heaven...  That's the one thing i've learned so far.  Prayers are becoming a journal entry.

Questions and Answers.....

Are you the only two missionaries living in the clouds?   No there's a whole zone of about 12 I think.

Do you work with one ward or branch? If there are 70,000 people there as the internet claims, that’s a huge area for one ward.  It's a stake we work in, ward Paragsha!  We usually have about 50 people at church.  Our area is a hill...  That's it.  Just one hill!

How is Jordi?  Jordi is losing excitment... sad i know...  It's taken so long for his parents to say yes that he doesn't know if he wants to be baptized anymore..  Our other investigators are Ovaldina and Nilta and Dora..

You said the pensionista feeds you. All three meals? Do you get three meals?  Yes all three!  We cant eat anywhere but with her...

What do you do on pdays? play 9 card... ha!

What is the best thing you have eaten so far? What’s the worst?  Everything is pretty good.. There's one thing we have a lot called mas amora...which is the worst... but still not bad.

Mom Happy Late Birthday

Monday, September 8, 2014

(Mom's questions are in italics.  Coco's answers follow the questions.)

How was your week?  fast

How is your comp?   my dad is doing great!

How are your living arrangements?   cold... we have had no power since Friday... meaning no lights and no heat... fun..

Are the people feeding you?   we have a pensionista.  She is the only lady allowed to feed us.. a normal breakfast is fried bananas.. you get used to it..

Is your house warm? NOT EVER

Are you using your sleeping bag?  DUH

Is your camera card really broken?   I know I still have it!

How are the altitude headaches?   I'm used to the elevation.. in fact last week we had a conference in Huancayo and I had too much air and got a headache...

How are you feeling in general? listo siempre listo.. (ready, always ready)

Can you breathe yet?  I'm fine!  Todo Bien Aqui!!

I want my missionary scripture to be
DyC 78: 7.

So power's gone still... it's awesome...

A drunk guy tried to steal me the other day... It was awesome!  He was like I need help come visit me!  Sorry we have a cita, another day!  Then he just took my hand and started walking...  Dad saved me... I'm okay!

We have been working with a kid named Jhordi..  He wants to get baptized but his parents want to see a change in him first..  They want to see him practice what he learns BEFORE he commits..  He's been stressed out and Saturday night decided to leave his house.  We found this out Sunday morning when we went to get him for church!  Me and dad said a prayer to help us take the right course whether that be to find him or wait.

We both had the impression to go to the highest part of our area... with no luck. When Jhordi came back and we talked to him we found out we probably could have yelled "Jhordi" and he would have heard us...  We were so close... Anyway we were family counselors last night and he and his mom are doing ok!  I've thought a lot about why God brought us so close but didn't feed us the answer.. So close to Jhordi..  A tough hike at a high altitude, so close.  And we didn't find him.

I've thought a lot about this cause i'm a thinker... You all know that and this is what I have..  God takes us to the edge of the light... to the point where we can't see anything ahead of us.  Then he waits. He waits for us to make a move forward... He waits knowing that as soon as we move he will give us the rest of the light...  My comp and I didn't think for ourselves... We didn't make an action to show God we were waiting...  This is what I think.

Some people hike mountains that are this high .... I just live here.

Monday, September 1, 2014

Hi
I'm in
freaking
Cerro de Pasco (Paula's note. 14,200 feet above sea level which means he's breathing about 60% oxygen.)
It's cold.
I don't know how cold exactly...
but I know that I can't feel my hands..
ever.

My area is good!  But at the same time it's hard to work... BECAUSE EVERYONE IS ALWAYS OCCUPIED!!! Apparently.  I don't see how people can think we believe them when they say they're busy... whatever..

I had some picture to send but my card broke... I don't think there was enough oxygen to sustain its poor little life.

It's hard to breathe here. I never thought I'd be grateful for air... but I am!

If there's one thing I have learned it's how to pray...That's what I think I have started to figure out.  Every day during scripture study it just kind of hits me how much God has done for me... and I crack... every time... I just start praying, saying Thank You Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!  I can't explain how it feels... But everyday it happens.  I just break down..in a good way though.  Like is a, I know that God loves me kind of way that shows me how much.  I owe him...  I've gone back to the Book of Mormon, highlighting everything that talks about the Plan of Salvation or God's Mercy..  I figure they're the same.

que mas.... My comp is a white kid like me... He´s dl and his name is Emmelkamp... Mom what country is that name from?  okay..

I have to go,  Next week I'll get you guys some good pictures.
