So my dad has left me... He went to the Jungle... donde hace bien calor....booo! (I think something about how hot he is going to be there.)  I bet it would be weird to be warm... Actually it has been really warm lately... I don't know what the temperature has been but it has been hot... To answer your question dad, the weather is like Utah in the summer... but cold... and the sun is waaaaaaaay hotter because it's really close... 

 

So we are teaching Paulina, Rosa, The Lopez family and a few less activos!!  All our investigators are pretty new and the ones from before are moving slowly.  We got a call this morning from a member who has been drinking and crying a lot lately.  His wife and daughter have left him and he is sad. 

 

Also I have become a more direct missionary... a little more fearless.... less afraid to tell the people how it is... but i'm still loving.  Don't Worry :) 

 

We are training the ward to understand the priesthood because they don't.  FANTASTIC. 

 

All is WELL UP HERE!!!

 

Fun Fact: Today i get to go to the clinic to see why my hands are swelling like crazy...  Don't worry Mom I'm fine!!!

Hello... firstly hi everyone thank you for reading this email.. 

This week was RRRRRROOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHH Ouch...  It went too fast and a lot happened... 

First.. Last Monday Maria Lopez died and that made it REALLY hard on her kids...  Then Elder Rojas went to Lima and there were three missionaries in Paragsha so we had to be a three set... which is awful!!!!!  Zach knows...  Then after that EVERYTHING FAILED...  We were working in plan F which is after Pray and Cry.... haha but I'm still happy!....  I don't know how... I really shouldn't be...  I'm cold everyday. People don't like us.  My comp is leaving me and I can't feel my hands... BUT I wake up everyday laughing and that's how I go to bed.  I can't complain. 

Yesterday a woman named Cindy who is usually really shy... OPENED UP TO US!!! NOW WE CAN HELP HER I'M SOO EXCITED I USE RUN ON SENTENCES AND SPELLING THINGS WRONG...  She has been having problems with her marriage... which me and Kampo called...  But we went with a member and he is really helpful!  I would like to say more but time is up!

Hello everyone in a place warmer than me.
This week was slow!!  Leaving the area for a conference didn't allot us to set up a lot of citas... so we worked a lot in plan b`s... which FAILED... but its okay we tried!!

 

Today was crazy day.  There is a woman in our ward who has been bedridden since June!  We help bring her the sacrament and visit her and her son a few times a week.. Yesterday we were at her house and she was REALLY bad worse than normal! Crying.  Her visiting teachers were there so we did the sacrament and asked how we could help her... she said nothing so we left...  This morning at 8 we got a call that she had passed. She only had one active daughter and 7 other sons.  We went over at 10 to give a lesson of comfort.  We shared

Then shared the mormon message by Elder Nelson about when he was in an airplane and he was calm because he has faith....  It was intense! I have had few lessons in my mission that are intense... I'd say about 5 total... and they have all been pretty recent I think as I have become more sensitive to the spirit it has happened.

 

I am so happy that I have a knowledge of the plan of salvation. What a blessing it is to KNOW what happens when we pass this life.  What a blessing this Gospel is for us! 

 

Anyway... all is well, all is well!

HEY EVERYBODY!  I AM WRITING IN ALL CAPS TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND MY TONE.  LIFE IS AWESOME AND REALLY HARD...  BUT I LOVE IT A LOT!

Ok to start this week we have to explain that my companion and I suck..  It's a good kind of sucking though..  As in we literally have lists of things we need to do better! 

 

This week I got a 46 on my self analysis... So I'm just batting 1000 right now.  Go me.. 

 

Thought: Sunday we had a conference where President and Hermana Henderson spoke and Mama Henderson is a boss...  She said this...

At some point in our lives we all have to decide for ourselves if the church is true... that made me think.. there is no in between here... no (mas o menos) it made me wonder why this church has members who are mas o menos...  A true convert to this church knows their priorities..  I often (while trying to understand the peruvian mindset which I don't recommend) wonder what they are thinking. Why would God give us everything he has, his kingdom or, the opportunity to be like him if we don't take advantage and make a priority of his kingdom here on earth.  Are we the kind of members that deserve these blessings?  If not, what can we do to change that? 

 

For this cause I have thought a lot about the type of member I want to be!

So some cool things happened this week!  I will start with a man name Lucho. Lucho was Catholic... till he read the bible.  Since then he has been changing things about his religion, he has learned things!  Talk about real intent!  He wants to be a follower of Christ!  And we had a milagro con him on martes (miracle with him on Tuesday) we were reading James 1.5 and Lucho freaked out because he read that verse the DAY BEFORE!  He is ready!  As we were thinking about members we could bring that would get along with Lucho (because his personality is a little strong) we thought of Gregorio.  Then we found out they have been buddies for a while.... inspiracion!!! It was cool!

This week I took the liberty to create a self inventory and self evaluation sheet!  I have a point system...  HAHA it's awesome!!  I can receive a total of 88 points weekly!  I'll tell you what I get next week...

Erin and Mason... I have wisdom for you two.  When I was dumb, Zach would tell me to deal with rules and just get used to it they are a part of life.. that didn't do it for me because I didn't see the point of doing things I don't want to... let me explain it a different way.. there will come a time when you are not at home and you will think about the kind of son or daughter you were.  You will most likely regret the person you were either way but you can improve a little!  Be the person you won't regret later!

well...

My companion and I are... first of all awesome.

2nd wow we are obedient!

Due to the fact that baptisms are s....l......o.........w we have been trying to at least be obedient.  In interviews, President told us that if he has missionaries that don't baptize but they follow the rules he's fine with that!

Mom, I was laughing the other day because you asked me once how I was gonna be obedient in the mission if I wasn't at home.. I told you I didn't know but I would... well, I WAS right about that! so that's one thing!

More..we have found 6 new investigators this week!!  Which was our goal! That's so good for here!

oh... one little note.  A guy from the stake told us the other day that if we don't baptize in a month they are gonna close the area.... so that's awesome...no pressure to missionaries working with hardened mountain people.....gaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Also....a man told us that the longer you are in Cerro the thicker your blood gets... it is gelatin.... anyone wanna tell me if THAT'S true???   I would like to know that!

JORDY SET HIS OWN DATE!  It's for the 1st of November!  I and praying like crazy his mom lets him do it!!  She doubts the gospel.  She loves us and thinks the Church is good.... for others... we are trying to show her that really there is no other way  2 Nefi 31, 21 which is the scripture that explains that.

But still all is well all is well!

The rule around here here is that when its raining on us our future wife is working out.... she is gonna be strong..

Me and Kampo... Emmelkamp... have renamed our apartment "The Think Tank".   We discuss really interesting doctrine in there I love it!  It gives me a chance to just think.  I don't know if you understand to what extent I love to think.  To theorize to be absolutely ridiculous and then try and back it up with a scripture haha it's awesome.

The scripture I want to share is the most real missionary scripture I can find!  2 Nephi 6.3.  It's how I feel with every investigator ever!

All my investigators are at a stand still right now..  So I'm not gonna share about them.  We are working hard and I know that they know a lot!  They just won't act!  Kampo and I have been on wake up duty lately.  We keep telling them about the blessings they could have if they would just act!  Right now we don't want to teach them more because if they have more knowledge that they don't act on we are just condemning them... it's a rough situation... But I like it.  Everyday is fun everyday!!

Conference won!  It was awesome!  We got to watch it in English which was double cool!  There was soooo much to learn and improve!  The best talk was Uchdorf in Sacerdocio (Priesthood)!  The question we can always ask as a form of self examination..."Lord is it I?"  I love it!  The mission is great!!
